Searching for a travel mate

 

If you plan to travel to Australia and you like to be accompanied by a friend or mate, you easily can fine one here in Australia. Many hostels, travellers contact points, internet rooms and other backpacker meeting points will have notice boards which provide you lots of information about other backpackers who are searching for travel mates.

Tips for finding the perfect travel mate to discover all of Australia: It is advisable that you not just join forces with everyone. Follow the steps for the ideal travel mate.

Step 1:

Give the clearest possible story of yourself of who you are, your hobbies, age, gender and perhaps some background information.

Step 2:

Ask yourself: which important requirements do I have for my new travel mate? (Male / female, age and possibly some hobbies that you can exercise together. The same life experience or other likeness can provide also fun click!)

Step 3:

Place a notice directed to your "ideal travel mate" and explain clearly what you are planning or what you want to see / do.

Step 4:

Make a clearly state about how long you want to stay (together) and when you plan to leave exactly. If you already have a (bus)ticket, indicate your (flight)number, perhaps somebody is on the same ride/flight with you!

Step 5:

Create a funny notice with your own (funny) picture on it! Make sure your notice is clear and neat.

Step 6:

When you came into contact with people, you may be quite critical. Don’t have fears that you will travel Australia alone. There will be many more backpackers out there, so stay confident. You will find the right person to explore Australia With! So if the contact does not feel good, you can go looking for another travel mates!

Step 7:

When you found a nice travel mate, go and mail or contact with each other through facebook. Call if each other and meet for several times to ‘feel’ the ‘click’ (do that in a public areas such as bar or restaurants). Keep in mind: you might spend a (long) time with this travel mate, so please be sure that you will have the same spirits!

Step 8:

Also discuss each other's budget and requests (what type of holiday, active, passive, shopping, festivals, nature etc) and expectations (of freedom).

Step 9:

While travelling you are not obliged to stay together when you do find out that travelling together will not work out so well. You easily can repeat the steps above. Or take certain things for granted. Travel must namely be fun for both parties!
